Key Commission achievements over the last 4 years
Residents first:
- Cannabis ballot initiative to allow us to decide what we do & do not want in our city - you all spoke LOUDLY that it is not wanted here.
- Tripled infrastructure spending in 2025 compared to 2020 and earlier

- Created a more equitable cost sharing solution for residents on Wimbledon for their Unimproved Street replacement costs
- Created a win-win solution for Arlington & Shirley residents to have an improved street, and retain as many mature trees as possible.
- This action has also prompted the desire by many residents to have a Tree Committee
- Purchased a property to allow NEXT to continue being the City's contracted Senior Services provider.
- Reached agreement with Birmingham Schools to have a full time Police Schools Resource Officer, on site, every school day, in Birmingham Schools instead of it being a part time role.
- Protected the seniors at the Baldwin House when they needed support the most.
- Created a Landlords Code of Conduct that has been adopted by over 80% of Birmingham Landlords.
- Growing our environmental sustainability opportunities and options
Businesses:
- Continue to grow and refine our outdoor dining options, standards and offerings with our Restaurants and Bistro's to allow more and better experiences for residents and visitors
- Provided 15 minute parking for delivery drivers to use to prevent street congestion
- Improving and upgrading all our parking to provide a safe and widely available network for all City visitors & workers.
- In process of building a City wayfinding to allow visitors to find and navigate around all our central districts while simultaneously improving the quality of our streetscapes.
